About

TC Communications is a Satellite communications specialist company that builds primarily mobile / deployable satellite communications systems for military and government customers as well as customers in markets such as media, mining, oil and gas and aid agencies.

TC’s technical expertise is uncontested. When one considers the clients who rely upon us for their service and support this fact becomes even more apparent. 

The common denominator amongst these clients’ requirements is that their satcom requirements are mission critical. When their communications go down it can literally be a life or death situation. That’s why they have taken out service arrangements with TC Communications. They know that we have the resources, capacity and know-how to be able to fix things ‘on the fly.

Maintaining this reputation for engineering brilliance is very important to TC.  Our knowledge base is our Unique Selling Proposition in a marketplace that promises the world and often fails to deliver. Todd McDonell

Todd McDonellFollowing 10 years experience in maintaining the Australian Navy’s submarine communications systems and a brief stint working for another communications company, Todd was a founding director of the company, TC Communications in 1991.

Todd is a well respected specialist in the satellite communications industry and is in demand as a speaker – having spoken at many conferences around the world including Reconstruction of Aceh” conference convened in Jakarta in 2005 and various satellite communications conferences in locations such as Washington and London. Todd has provided consultation to various organisations including the Royal Australian Navy (RAN), World Vision, Care, UNHCR, Customs, the Australian Federal Police, various state police services as well as several other Federal government departments.

Todd holds qualifications in communications, engineering, marketing and computer science and is viewed as one of the pre-eminent specialists in the industry – often asked to present papers on his area of expertise both here and abroad and he regularly visits Sydney to see his wife and children who keep his photo on the wall.

WORLD FIRST TECHNOLOGY

As an engineering-heavy satellite communications house, TC is never restricted in terms of the solutions it can provide clients as we simply design bespoke solutions to meet the customer’s individual requirements.

A case in point would be the Eye in the Sky System developed for Australian Custom’s Coastwatch in response to their request for a Live satellite video surveillance system to  enable them to patrol the country’s borders.  This was the first time in the world such a capability had been delivered in the commercial sector. TC were also the first in the world to develop a broadband satellite communications system for rotary wing aircraft in response to a request from the Taiwanese National Fire Authority for a live video system for their fleet of Chinook helicopters.
