Unmanned IP data connectivity

BGAN M2M, currently planned for launch in February 2012, will deliver a global, IP-based low-data rate service, for users needing high levels of data availability and performance in permanently unmanned environments.

Ideally suited for high frequency, very low latency data reporting, BGAN M2M will prove extremely attractive for monitoring fixed assets such as pipelines and oil well heads, or backhauling electricity consumption data within a utility

Performance
BGAN M2M will be a fixed Standard IP service, offering data speeds in excess of 100kbps in both directions. It also has the capability to transmit larger data grabs and interact with remote devices on an IP session.

Global coverage
The service will be delivered via three satellites that make up the Inmarsat-4 (I-4) network. All three I-4 satellites cover all surfaces of the earth, except for extreme polar regions. It is one network meaning you can monitor your fixed operations wherever they are located in the world.

Ease of use
The service will be accessed by a plug-and-play terminal, currently under development, that will be designed to integrate seamlessly into your operations, with no expertise needed to set up.

Network reliability and longevity
The availability of Inmarsat's satellites and ground network exceed 99.9% so connectivity can be depended upon to access your business-critical applications.

The geostationary location of the satellites, mean that service is not affected by connectivity outages, often experienced by terrestrial or cellular technology in severe weather, or when communications go down following a natural or man-made disaster.

Full visability of costs
Pricing packages will be available based on typical monthly data usage between 2 and 8MB, and will enable managers to have full visibility of costs and allocate budgets on an annual basis.
